Culdesac
Property search app for the Czech Republic focused on Prague's commuter belt — bilingual, map-driven, with commute-first filtering.
Culdesac is a property search app for the Czech Republic, focused on helping people find homes in Prague’s commuter belt.
The Czech rental and property market is dominated by Sreality, which is fine for searching within Prague but terrible for the growing number of people who want to live outside the city and commute in. Culdesac fills that gap with commute-first search, location intelligence, and bilingual support.
What it does:
Commute-first search lets you filter properties by travel time to a reference point, not just by location. Set your office address, pick a maximum commute, and see what’s available.
Location profiles treat locations as first-class entities with enrichment data: transport links, amenities, air quality, and nearby services from OpenStreetMap.
Bilingual interface supports Czech and English with next-intl, and translates Sreality listing content on the fly using LibreTranslate.
Map-driven browsing with Google Maps integration for distance calculations, directions, and visual exploration of the commuter belt.
Community reviews are free for all authenticated users — driving content and engagement around locations that don’t have much coverage elsewhere.
Stack: Next.js (App Router), PostgreSQL + Prisma, Clerk auth, Google Maps API, Sreality API (proxied), LibreTranslate, deployed on Kubernetes.
Monetization: Free tier with basic search and defaults. Pro tier (149 CZK/month) for custom reference points, advanced filters, unlimited favorites, saved searches, and comparison views.
